Pics of STDs: Trichomoniasis Infection

Men infected with trichomoniasis do not exhibit any visible signs and usually do not experience symptoms. However, some may experience an irritation inside the penis, mild discharge, or slight burning after urination or ejaculation. Women with trichomoniasis may experience discomfort during intercourse and urination (see picture titled: Pictures of STDs: Life Cycle of Trichomoniasis). Trichomoniasis is a common cause of vaginitis, causing irritation and itching of the female genital area. In rare cases, women may have lower abdominal pain, which is also a symptom of Chlamydia. Due to a lack of visible symptoms, viewing pictures of trichomoniasis alone cannot help determine an infection as with other pics of STDs. Trichomoniasis can be cured with prescription drugs: either metronidazole or tinidazole.

Pictures of STDs: Life Cycle of Trichomoniasis

This picture of trichomoniasis demonstrates how the disease is passed from vaginal and prostatic secretions from the woman to the urethra orifice in a man or vagina in another woman (see picture titled: Pics of STDs: Trichomoniasis Infection). Women infected with trichomoniasis may have a vaginal discharge that looks similar to discharges seen in other pictures of STDs but is frothier, greener, and exhibits a strong odor. Men show no visible signs of the disease. An STD kit can detect the presence of trichomoniasis so that it can be treated.
